Dining Delight

A moment of gathering,

A bud for a memory.

Just an ordinary evening,

But shared by many…

The parents, the children and the moon,

The waves, the street lamps and the fragrant food.

The dinner was garnished with delight,

But her eyes longed someone in the moonlight.

A memory blooming from love,

But for her, that resided in the moon above.

Endless Love

Do you possess within, an endless love-filled vessel?

‘Cause your love flows through my eyes since I can’t handle.

I really wish to return the same amount,

But I’ll forever be in debt, lost in count.

The depth of your dark coffee eyes,

Could trip me, trap me, I’d stare stone-still everytime.

Those pale snow-like hands blanketed my heart, warm.

Holding your palms silenced the inner storms, calm.

You’ve been flooded with problems for ages.

Can’t describe them in these pages.

But I do know just this one thing,

You survived all along without sinking.

You’ve never let the water seep inside,

Nor let it freeze you dead-cold.

You only let the liquid out through your eyes.

Immeasurable, is the pain, those tears hold.

Even when surrounded by wounding waters,

You elevate me with love, taller the tallest towers.

And in return, the least I can is to love you forever.

Won’t let you go, nor leave you, never.

Pain’s Purpose

Never expected pain would come through.

Felt the worst, did not know what to do next.

I was awaiting in dark to know the truth.

Tears became my tea, emptiness – fodder.

My energy drained down through the bed legs.

Did absolutely nothing at all.

I sought help yet no one really cared much.

Pain also needed qualification?!

Oh! it is a yes from the society!

Hid it deep all because it hurts so much,

To be misunderstood by others.

But found love in depth and healed.

Knowledge sought in me through wounds that I,

Realised that Pain is a great teacher.

This is a sonnet, a version of poetry that has 14 lines with 10 syllables (vowel sounds) in each sentence. I simply gave it a try to know how much hard it was. It was a bit hard but manageable. Hope you liked it and thanks for reading.

Distance between Dream and Life

Haven’t really figured out

What I really want in life.

Not independent, not allowed

To fly in danger or decide.

My dream is out there

Disguised in uncertainty,

Which, I truly desire to wear

But rules are binding me.

Rule-makers are blinded,

Deceived that love and life is in safety,

Deafening my ears, everything is silent,

Heart is in a state of aphony*.

My mind was self-ploughed

But someone’s dream heavily rained on,

Leaving me messed and sogged,

Had to plough again with sunrays of hope.

A Place To Feel Everything

I sat there with a chaotic teary mess happening beneath the lids of my eyes.

I didn’t want anyone to know because I knew that no one would care.

Really hoped I could be alone but I was restricted to be so.

I just sat there unable to feel what I was going through.

When I got into my little cave, I let my heart feel through my eyes.

My pain trickled silently but relieving the pressure it had on me staying inside.

I sat there with lights off in hopes of the dark soothing the darkness within.

I realised that my little room was the only place I could relieve whatever I had to feel.

The eyes in me saw that it was the only place I can be uncomfortable comfortably.
